Rules used Employer and employee PF at 12% of basic (optionally on basic up to ₹15,000 a month); gratuity provision 4.81% of basic when it's part of CTC; professional tax as entered (capped at ₹2,500 a year; it varies by state, and some states have none); income tax for FY 2026-27 (same rates as FY 2025-26) from the same engine as the income tax calculator. Real payslips vary with allowances, bonuses and reimbursements.
Why is in-hand salary lower than CTC?
CTC includes the employer's PF contribution and often gratuity, which you don't receive monthly. From the remaining gross salary, your own PF, professional tax and income tax are deducted.
Is employer PF part of my salary?
It's part of your CTC and goes into your PF account, not your bank account. It's yours, but you get it later.
Does a higher basic pay mean less in-hand?
Usually yes, because PF is 12% of basic. A higher basic also means a larger PF balance and gratuity.
