Has the ITR deadline been extended?

Extensions are announced by the CBDT through a notification or circular, usually close to the due date. Check the latest notification on the income tax portal. We update this page when a date changes.

What if I miss the ITR due date?

You can still file a belated return until 31 December of the assessment year, with a late fee of up to ₹5,000 (₹1,000 if income is under ₹5 lakh) and interest on unpaid tax. Some losses can't be carried forward.

Who announces GST due date changes?

The CBIC and the GST Council, through notifications. Late GST returns attract a late fee per day and interest on tax paid late.
