Rules used GST = price × rate. Inclusive prices: price before GST = total ÷ (1 + rate). Within a state, GST splits equally into CGST and SGST; across states it is IGST. Rates were rationalised in 2025, so confirm the current rate for your goods or service.
How do I remove GST from a price?
Divide the GST-inclusive price by 1 plus the rate. For 18%, divide by 1.18. The calculator does this when you choose 'Including GST'.
When is it IGST instead of CGST and SGST?
When the supplier and the place of supply are in different states, or for imports and exports. Within one state it's CGST plus SGST.
Do I need GST registration?
Usually once turnover crosses ₹40 lakh for goods or ₹20 lakh for services (lower in some states), or if you sell online or across states.
