GSTIN check
Type a GSTIN. We check its pattern and check character as you type, then look up the registration: legal name, status and registration date.

Rules used GSTIN structure: 2-digit state code, 10-character PAN, entity number, Z, and a check character computed with the standard mod-36 algorithm. Registration details come from the GST system's public taxpayer search through a GST Suvidha Provider.
Why check a supplier's GSTIN?
Input tax credit depends on your supplier being registered, active and filing returns. A cancelled or fake GSTIN on an invoice can cost you the credit.
What does the last character of a GSTIN mean?
It's a check character calculated from the first 14 characters. If it doesn't match, the number has a typo.
Can I see if a supplier has filed returns?
The GST portal shows a taxpayer's return filing status. A professional can reconcile your purchases against GSTR-2B every month.
