Income tax return, freelancers and professionals: questions
What is the presumptive scheme?
Professionals can declare 50% of receipts as income under section 44ADA and skip detailed books, if receipts are up to ₹75 lakh and almost all are digital (₹50 lakh otherwise). Your professional checks whether it beats keeping books.
I run a shop or trade, not a profession. Is this for me?
No. A business or trader files the business return (ITR-4 presumptive under 44AD, or ITR-3 with books), which we price separately as Income tax return, business.
Do I need a tax audit?
Above those limits, or if you declare less than the presumptive income, a tax audit can apply. Only a CA can sign it, so we find one for you through Find me a CA.
I work with clients abroad. Anything different?
Foreign income is taxed in India too. Keep the bank advices (FIRC) for each payment; they also matter for GST if you're registered.
