This Privacy Policy explains how Claw LegalTech Private Limited("Claw", "we", "our", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the CLAW iOS/mobile app and related websites/services (collectively, the Services). Quick Summary

We collect only what we need to run case search, case-order analytics, next-hearing updates, and personalized cause lists.
We do not sell your personal data.
You can delete your account in-app: Settings → Account → Delete Account.
Certain features (e.g., natural‑language queries over judgments) may send your inputs to vetted AI/infra providers solely to deliver the feature; where available, we opt out of training.
Data may be processed outside India with safeguards; we comply with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP).

Scope

This Policy applies to our iOS/mobile applications, web portals, and customer support channels that link to it. By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.

What We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

💡 Court data

Case status/next‑hearing dates and cause lists are fetched from public/official sources or authorized providers where available. Availability and accuracy can vary by court and jurisdiction.

Why We Use Your Data

Provide core features: multi‑court navigation (district/high/supreme/tribunals/appellate), case‑order timelines, next‑hearing updates, and personalized daily/weekly cause lists.
Enable search and chat with judgments (natural‑language interactions with citations).
Send critical notifications (e.g., hearing reminders, matter updates) you opt in to.
Maintain security, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce terms.

iOS Permissions We Request (and Why)

Notifications: hearing reminders, daily/weekly cause lists, matter updates

Photos/Files/Camera (optional): upload/select documents you choose to store with a matter

Face ID/Touch ID (optional): faster, secure sign‑in

We do not access device contacts, precise location, or the microphone by default.

How We Process Queries with AI/Infra Providers

For features like chat with judgments or semantic search, the text you submit (and minimal context) may be sent securely to third‑party processors only to generate the response. Where the provider supports it, we:

opt out of training on your data;
set short retention; and
restrict use to our instructions.

We do not allow providers to use your content for their own advertising or profiling. We apply encryption in transit and contractual safeguards.

Sharing Your Data

We do not sell personal data. We share data with service providers under contract who process it on our behalf to operate the Services:

Cloud hosting & databases (store and serve the app securely)
Analytics & crash reporting (app reliability and improvement)
Customer support & comms (helpdesk, emails, push delivery)
Payment processing / App Store (if/when relevant for subscriptions/IAP)
AI model/API providers (to process your search/judgment chat queries)

These providers must follow confidentiality and data‑protection obligations and cannot use your data for independent purposes.

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of our Services.

International Transfers (DPDP)

We may process data outside India. Transfers occur under contractual and technical safeguards and subject to any country restrictions notified under India's DPDP Act, 2023.

Data Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or de‑identify it. Typical maximum periods:

Account & contact info: while account is active + 24 months
Matter/case content you store: until you delete or account deletion
Usage & analytics: up to 24 months
Diagnostics & logs: up to 18 months

You can delete specific matters or documents at any time inside the app.

Your Choices & Rights (India)

Subject to applicable law, you can:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Delete data and delete your account
Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent
File a grievance with us, and if unresolved, escalate to the Data Protection Board of India

🗑️ Delete your account/data

In‑app path: Settings → Account → Delete Account. We delete your account and associated personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain certain records for legal, compliance, or fraud‑prevention purposes. Backups are purged on their normal rotation.

Security

We use industry‑standard security measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and logging. No method is 100% secure; we continuously improve our safeguards.

Children's Privacy

Our Services are intended for legal professionals and not directed to individuals under 18. If you believe a minor has provided data, contact us to delete it.

🔎 Tracking

We do not use data for cross‑app ad tracking. If we ever introduce advertising, we will update this policy and App Privacy labels first.

We will update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you in‑app or by email and update the "Last updated" date above.
