A step-by-step guide to checking a Saket Courts case status online by CNR, case number, party name, advocate name or FIR number, with a status glossary, cause list tips and the limits of the official portal.

How-To · Case Status · South and South East Delhi

You have a matter listed at Saket Courts and you need today’s status: is it listed, what stage is it at, and when is the next date. The official portal can answer this, but only if you pick the right district and court complex and search the right way. To check a Saket Court case status online, open the South East Delhi or South Delhi District Courts website, or eCourts Services, select the Saket Court Complex, and search by CNR, case number, FIR number, party name or advocate name. You can also track the same case in Claw by party name and get alerts, so you do not need to search again.

The short answer
  • Official route: South East or South Delhi District Courts site, or eCourts Services, then Case Status, Saket Court Complex.
  • Five search methods: CNR, case number, FIR number, party name, advocate name. CNR is the fastest.
  • Jurisdiction: Saket is one complex serving two districts, South and South East Delhi.
  • Track it: Claw can follow the case by party name with alerts, across 9,102 forums.
  • Last verified: October 2026.

01Why the search often fails

Most failed searches for a Saket case come down to one wrong choice at the start. The portal is simple, but it is strict about what you select and how you spell things.

Two districts, one complex

This is the point that trips people most at Saket. The Saket Court Complex hears cases for two Delhi districts: South and South East. Each district has its own court website. If your case belongs to the South East district and you search under South, you may see nothing. Check the district named on your summons, notice or order before you start.

Wrong complex

Delhi has several district court complexes, and each one is searched separately. If you pick Tis Hazari or Patiala House by mistake, a Saket case will not appear. For the Tis Hazari complex, see how to check Tis Hazari court case status.

Party names do not match

Court records often spell names differently from your file. A middle name, an initial, or a short form of a company name can return no result. Try shorter, partial names, and add the year if the list is long.

You do not have the case number or CNR

Many clients only know the party names, the advocate, or the FIR number. The portal allows searches on all of these, but the result list can be long. A CNR number, once you have it, removes most of this trouble.

At Saket, check the district first, then search by CNR if you have it. Party name search is the fallback, not the first choice.

Check the date

Court portals can lag behind the courtroom by a few hours or a day. Always confirm a same-day listing with the cause list or your advocate before travelling to court.

02What Saket Courts covers

The Saket Court Complex started working on 28 August 2010 and takes civil and criminal cases for the South and South East districts of Delhi. Earlier, this work was handled at Patiala House Courts. The complex has three buildings and 128 courtrooms in all, with the main building holding 82 of them.

The courts here include District and Sessions courts, Additional Sessions Judges, Chief Metropolitan Magistrates and Metropolitan Magistrates, Senior Civil Judges and Civil Judges, Family Courts, Commercial Courts, the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, and special courts such as those for POCSO, NDPS, SC/ST Atrocities and Domestic Violence matters.

Which court hears your matter depends on the police station area (for criminal cases) or the place where the cause of action arose or the defendant lives (for civil cases). The South East Delhi site has a Police Station Wise Magistrate page that helps you map a police station to a court. Residents of South and South East Delhi localities should check their police station there.

Appeals and writ matters go to the Delhi High Court, which has its own search. Cases of this kind are not found on the Saket portal. For a wider view of Delhi searches across complexes, see litigation tracking for government and PSU legal teams, which covers tracking across many forums.

03Steps to check Saket case status online

You can check status free of cost on the official portals. These steps work on the South East Delhi site, the South Delhi site, or eCourts Services.

  1. Open the portal. Go to southeastdelhi.dcourts.gov.in, southdelhi.dcourts.gov.in or services.ecourts.gov.in.
  2. Select Case Status. Choose the state (Delhi), the district (South East or South), and the court complex (Saket Court Complex).
  3. Choose a search method. Use CNR number, case number, FIR number, party name or advocate name. See the methods table below.
  4. Enter the details. For case number, give the case type, number and year. For party name, start with a short name and add the year if the list is long.
  5. Type the captcha and submit.
  6. Open the case. Select View to see parties, advocates, the next hearing date, stage, and order history.
  7. Note the CNR number. Save it. It is the quickest way to check the case again.

There is also an SMS option. The South East Delhi site says you can send "ECOURTS" followed by the CNR number to 9766899899 to get case status on your phone. The eCourts Services mobile app works in the same way as the website.

05Status glossary: what the words mean

The status page uses short court terms. Here is what the common ones mean in plain English.

  • Pending: the case is still going on and no final decision has been given.
  • Disposed: the case is finished. A final order or judgment has been given.
  • Next hearing date: the date the case is next listed before the court.
  • Case stage: where the case is, for example appearance, evidence, arguments or orders.
  • Filing number and registration number: the first is given when papers are filed. The second is given once the case is formally registered.
  • Court number or judge: the court hearing the matter. At a big complex like Saket, always note the court number, because the same judge may sit in a different room on another day.
  • Orders and judgments: the written orders passed on each date, often as a PDF.
  • Business on date: what happened at the last hearing.

If a case shows no next date, it may be awaiting an order, or the data may not be updated yet. Ask your advocate or the court registry before you assume anything.

06Cause list and daily orders

The cause list tells you what is listed today. Case status tells you the history and the next date. You often need both, especially in a complex with 128 courtrooms where a wrong building or wing costs real time.

The district court sites publish daily cause lists, and the eCourts portal has a Cause List option by complex and court number. Use it on the morning of the hearing to confirm the item number and the courtroom. The district sites also allow court order searches by case number, party name, court number or order date.

For recent orders, open the case and check the order history. Some orders can take a day or more to appear. If you rely on the order for compliance, get the certified copy through the proper court process.

If you also track IP or registry matters beyond the court, such as trademark files, a different portal applies. See how trademark status checks work in India.

07Where Claw fits

Claw is an all-in-one legaltech platform for Indian advocates, law firms, and corporate legal teams, combining AI-based case search, an AI legal assistant (Legal GPT), case management, and compliance automation across all Indian courts and tribunals.

Saket is one complex serving two districts across many courtrooms, so a matter is easy to lose track of between visits, and the official portal shows one case at a time. Claw tracks cases, orders and hearings across 9,102 courts, benches and forums, with 30 crore+ judgments and results in under 5 seconds, so you can follow a Saket case across both districts and read its history, next date and orders in one place. Claw does not use your case documents to train its AI models.

Create a FREE Claw account to follow your Saket matters by party or advocate name. To search the wider body of law across India, see case search across Indian courts.
