Why the seat is at Amaravati, and why that is recent

The Andhra Pradesh High Court came into existence on 1 January 2019. Before that, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana shared one High Court at Hyderabad, a combined court that had heard matters from both states since the 2014 bifurcation of the old, undivided Andhra Pradesh. 03How to search on eCourts (step by step)

The District and Sessions Court, the Civil Court Complex, the Additional District Courts, and the Family Court in Visakhapatnam are all searchable through the national eCourts Services portal.

1. Go to the eCourts Services portal at services.ecourts.gov.in.
2. Select the state and district. Choose Andhra Pradesh, then Visakhapatnam. You can then pick the specific court complex, for example the District and Sessions Court, the Civil Court Complex, or the Family Court, if you know it.

3. Use the correct case type. The court uses distinct petition and appeal types, for example Writ Petition, Writ Appeal, Criminal Petition, and Civil Revision Petition, each with its own numbering series. A case-number search with the wrong type prefix returns nothing even if the case exists.
4. Check the cause list separately, to confirm which bench a Visakhapatnam matter is listed before and on what date.
5. For a case that predates 2019, also check the combined-court record, since older Visakhapatnam matters may sit with what is now the shared pre-2019 history rather than the present Amaravati court alone.
