How to Search Court Cases in Jaipur (District Court, High Court Bench and Tribunals)

A case involving Jaipur could be sitting in the District and Sessions Court, in one of the civil or criminal courts under it, in the Rajasthan High Court Jaipur Bench, or in a Jaipur-seated tribunal such as the DRT or ITAT. Each of these has its own search system, and using the wrong one wastes time. 01The court structure in Jaipur

Jaipur is a multi-forum jurisdiction. Before you search, it helps to know which forum your case actually sits in.

District and Sessions Court, Jaipur

The District and Sessions Court at Jaipur is the main trial court for the district. The same judge sits as District Judge for civil matters and as Sessions Judge for criminal matters, and the court has both original and appellate jurisdiction. Below it, Jaipur district runs a full cadre of civil judges and magistrates spread across the district, including separate Jaipur Metropolitan court establishments for the city itself.

Civil and criminal courts under it

Under the District and Sessions Court, Jaipur has civil judge courts (for suits, money recovery, property and similar civil disputes) and magistrate courts (for criminal complaints, bail, and trial of offences within their power). Which court hears your case depends on the case type, the value or nature of the claim, and where in the district it was filed.

The Rajasthan High Court Jaipur Bench

Above the district courts sits the Rajasthan High Court. For Jaipur, this means the Jaipur Bench, not the principal seat, which is explained in the next section.

Jaipur-seated tribunals

Jaipur also hosts specialist tribunals with their own case-status systems, including a Debts Recovery Tribunal for bank recovery matters and an Income Tax Appellate Tribunal bench for tax appeals. These run outside the eCourts and High Court systems and are covered separately below.

02Is the main seat Jodhpur or Jaipur? Here is the real answer

The principal seat of the Rajasthan High Court is at Jodhpur, not Jaipur. A permanent bench of the High Court was established at Jaipur in 1976, and it is usually called the Jaipur Bench (sometimes written RHCB, Jaipur).

This matters for search because the Jaipur Bench hears matters from the eastern districts of Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Tonk, Kota, Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar. Cases from the remaining districts of Rajasthan go to the principal seat at Jodhpur. So a Jaipur High Court matter is filed and searched at the Jaipur Bench specifically, using the same hcraj.nic.in system that serves the whole Rajasthan High Court.

03How to search Jaipur District Court cases (eCourts)

District and Sessions Court cases in Jaipur, and the civil and criminal courts under it, are searched through the national eCourts Services portal. Follow these steps.

1. Go to the eCourts Services portal and open the case status search page for district and taluka courts.
2. Select Rajasthan, then Jaipur district, and pick the specific court establishment if you know it (for example, a Jaipur Metropolitan court or a taluka court).
3. Choose how you want to search: by CNR number, case number, filing number, party name, advocate name, FIR number, or act.
4. Search by CNR, if you have it. The CNR is a 16-character code that identifies the case uniquely across the country. Enter it without spaces or hyphens to see the current status and full history in one step.
5. Search by party name or advocate name, if you do not have the CNR. A partial match of at least three characters works, so typing part of a surname is usually enough to bring up a shortlist.
6. Search by case number, if you know the case type, number, and year, which also returns the CNR for future searches.
7. Open the case to view status, next hearing date, and order history, and download orders or judgments where available.

If you only have a first information report (FIR) number for a criminal matter, the same portal lets you search by FIR number and year to locate the connected case.

04How to search Rajasthan High Court (Jaipur Bench) cases

High Court matters, including those before the Jaipur Bench, are searched on the Rajasthan High Court’s own case status system, not the district eCourts portal (though a linked High Court services search is also available through eCourts).

1. Go to the Rajasthan High Court’s official website, hcraj.nic.in, and open the Case Status Information System.
2. Select the Jaipur Bench as the location, since the same system also covers the Jodhpur principal seat.
3. Search case-number wise, by selecting the case type and entering the case number and year, to view pending or disposed status.
4. Or search party-wise, by entering the petitioner’s or respondent’s name and year, if you do not have the case number.
5. Check the cause list for the Jaipur Bench to see which matters are listed for hearing on a given date.
6. Download orders and judgments from the case page where the High Court has made them available online.

05Jaipur-seated tribunals: DRT and ITAT

Not every dispute connected to Jaipur runs through the District Court or the High Court. Two tribunals are seated in Jaipur and run their own case systems.

Debts Recovery Tribunal, Jaipur

DRT Jaipur hears bank and financial institution recovery matters under the Recovery of Debts and Bankruptcy Act, 1993, including original applications, interim attachment applications, and execution of recovery certificates, for Jaipur and a group of neighbouring districts. Appeals from DRT Jaipur go to the Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunal. Case status for DRT matters is checked through the tribunal directly rather than through eCourts.

Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Jaipur Bench

The ITAT Jaipur Bench hears income tax appeals from the Jaipur region, arising after a decision by the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals). Case status and cause lists for ITAT matters are checked on the official ITAT website, itat.gov.in, using the case status tool there, separately from both eCourts and the High Court system.
