01The short answer

To check a Dwarka court case status, use the official Delhi District Courts website for South West District, or the national eCourts services portal. Pick the Dwarka court complex, then search by case number, party name, or advocate name. The result shows the next hearing date, the stage, and the orders passed.

  • Fastest if you have the number: search by case type, case number and year.
  • If you only know the parties: search by party name. Try spelling variants.
  • For today’s list: open the cause list for the court room and date.

These are free public services. Always treat the live court record as the final word, and confirm important dates with the court office.

02About the Dwarka court complex

The Dwarka Courts complex is in Sector 10, Dwarka, New Delhi. It is the seat of the South West District of the Delhi district judiciary. It began functioning in September 2008 and holds civil and criminal courts of the South West District. It also houses the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal and the Family Courts.

This matters for your search. Cases from this area, such as Dwarka, Palam, Najafgarh and nearby colonies, are usually filed here. A case in the wrong complex will not show up, so first confirm which court your matter is listed in.

Which court is it?

Delhi has several district court complexes. If your matter is listed at Tis Hazari, see our guide to checking Tis Hazari court case status. Matters before the Delhi High Court use a different system.

03Step by step: check Dwarka court case status online

Follow these steps on a phone or computer.

  1. Open the official site. Go to the South West District court website, or the eCourts district services page for Delhi.
  2. Choose the case status service. Look for case status, or case status by case number, party name or advocate.

  6. Type the captcha. Enter the code shown and press search.
  7. Open the case. Click View on the right row. You will see the case details, the next date, the history of hearings, and the orders.

Save or print the page for your file. The next date can change, so check again the day before the hearing.

04Ways to check (methods)

There is more than one way to get the same information. Choose the one that fits your situation.

The CNR (Case Number Record) is a 16 character number given to a case. If you have it, it is often the most reliable way to find a case, because it is unique.

05Cause list and orders for Dwarka courts

The cause list is the list of cases fixed before a judge on a given day. It is published a day or so ahead. Check it to know the serial number of your matter and the court room.

  • Open the cause list service on the official site.
  • Select the Dwarka complex, the court (judge or room), and the date.
  • Look for your case number or party name in the list.

For orders, open the case and look at the order or judgment tab. Orders uploaded online are for information. For a certified copy you must apply to the court in the usual way.

Court days are busy and lists change. Our court day workflow on mobile for advocates shows how to handle this on the move.

06If you cannot find the case

A blank result does not always mean the case does not exist. Try these checks in order.

  • Wrong complex. The case may be at Tis Hazari, Saket or another Delhi complex. Check the other complexes.
  • Wrong case type. A criminal complaint, a civil suit and a petition use different case types. Match the type on your papers.
  • Name spelling. Try a short form, a first name only, or an alternate spelling. Remove titles like Mr or Shri.
  • Year. Use the year of filing, not the year of the event.
  • Very new filing. A fresh case may take a few days to appear online.
  • Data not updated. Sometimes orders or dates are uploaded late. Confirm with the court office or the counsel on record.

If your matter is a constitutional or writ matter, it will be in the High Court and not here. See our guide on the writ petition format in India for how those are filed.

07Words you will see on the status page

  • CNR: a unique 16 character number for each case.
  • Next hearing date: the date the case is listed again.
  • Stage: where the case is, such as appearance, evidence, arguments or orders.
  • Cause list: the daily list of cases before each court.
  • Disposed: the case has been decided or closed.
  • Pending: the case is still going on.
  • Court number: the room or judge where the case is listed.
  • Petitioner and respondent: the two sides in most petitions. In suits you will see plaintiff and defendant.
