01How to check TDSAT case status on the official portal
TDSAT publishes case status on its own website, tdsat.gov.in, and not on the eCourts platform used by most courts. The official site is the primary source for every TDSAT matter, whether it is your own case or one on the other side.
Steps to check status
- Open the official TDSAT website and go to the Case Status section.
- Choose how to search: by case number, by diary number, or by party name. Use the diary number for a newly filed matter and the case number once it is registered.
- Select the case type. The categories cover telecom, broadcasting, airport tariff (AERA), cyber, review and miscellaneous matters.
- Enter the number and year, or the party name, then submit.
- Read the result: current status, next listed date if any, and a link to the order where one is uploaded.
- Before the hearing, check the daily cause list for the bench and the order of matters.
Official source first

04What TDSAT status words mean
- Pending: the matter is registered and not yet decided. It is still on the tribunal’s docket.
- Listed: the matter is in the cause list for a given date and bench.
- For orders: arguments are done or a point is heard, and the bench will pass an order on the next date.
- Reserved: the bench has heard the matter and kept the judgement for a later date. The final order is awaited.
- Disposed: the matter is finally decided or closed. The last order is the one to read.

05TDSAT cause list and next hearing date
TDSAT publishes a daily cause list on its website, usually the evening before the hearing, showing the matters to be taken up and their order. It also keeps a daily order list and a judgements section for final rulings.
- Appearing tomorrow: open the cause list and find your case number to see the bench and likely sequence.
- Next hearing date: the case status result shows the next listed date. Confirm it against the cause list a day before.

06Diary number vs case number at TDSAT
Diary number: a receipt-style number given when a petition, appeal or application is first filed. It confirms the filing was received, before registry scrutiny.
Case number: given after scrutiny, under a category such as Petition, Appeal, Miscellaneous Application or Review Application, with a serial number and year. This is the number used in cause lists, orders and citations.
A diary number tells you a filing was received. A case number tells you it is registered and on the docket. Searching with the wrong one is the most common reason a TDSAT search comes back empty.
07What TDSAT hears
TDSAT was set up in 2000 under an amendment to the TRAI Act, so that disputes are decided by a body separate from the regulator. It hears:
- Telecom disputes and appeals against TRAI directions and orders, and disputes between licensors, licensees and service providers.
- Broadcasting and cable appeals, including tariff disputes.
- Airport tariff appeals against orders of the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA).
- Cyber and IT Act appeals, earlier heard by the Cyber Appellate Tribunal.
- Review and miscellaneous applications filed inside a main petition or appeal.
Orders of TDSAT can be appealed directly to the Supreme Court of India. There is no middle appellate tribunal.

Search returns nothing
Try the other number type first. A matter may still be at diary stage, or may have been renumbered after registration. If unsure, search by party name.
Wrong case type selected
