Best Consumer Forum Case Tracking Software in India
Why tracking a consumer complaint is harder than tracking a regular court case, what the free government portal already gives you, and how the paid tracking tools compare in 2026.
Buyer’s Guide · Consumer Forum Case Tracking
A consumer complaint does not run on the same rails as a regular civil or criminal case, so the tools and habits that work for tracking a court matter often do not work here. Consumer disputes are heard by the District, State, and National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions, a separate three tier system that sits outside the eCourts and NJDG network most lawyers check by default. This guide explains why that makes tracking a consumer forum case genuinely harder, what the free government portal already does well, and how the paid tracking tools compare in 2026, so you can pick the right approach for how many cases you handle.
- The source of truth: e-Jagriti, the free official portal covering the District, State, and National Consumer Commissions.
- Best all-in-one tracking: Claw, covering consumer forums alongside 8200+ courts and tribunals, with WhatsApp and email alerts.
- Best dedicated tracker: Case Bench, which states direct e-Jagriti integration alongside High Court and tribunal coverage.
- Different job: IndiaCaseStatus covers the court-side escalation of a consumer dispute, not the consumer commission stage itself.
01Why tracking a consumer forum case is hard
Consumer forum case tracking means keeping tabs on a complaint filed under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, as it moves through the District, State, or National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. It is a narrower, more specific job than general court case tracking, and it has its own quirks.
It is a separate system, not a court
Consumer commissions are quasi judicial bodies under the Department of Consumer Affairs, not part of the regular judiciary. There are three tiers: the District Commission (DCDRC) for claims up to Rs 50 lakh, the State Commission (SCDRC) for claims between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 2 crore, and the National Commission (NCDRC) for claims above Rs 2 crore. A case can move up through appeals, and from the National Commission it can go further to the Supreme Court.
The portal has changed more than once
Consumer forum filings and case status used to run on CONFONET and then e-Daakhil. Since 1 January 2025, both have been consolidated into a single portal, e-Jagriti, and older cases have been migrated across. This means the case number format you search with depends on when the case was filed, old format or new format, which is a common source of confusion when checking status.
NJDG and eCourts do not cover it
The National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) and the eCourts network track the Supreme Court, High Courts, and District and Taluka courts. Consumer commissions are not part of that network, so searching NJDG or eCourts for a consumer complaint will simply not turn it up. You have to go to e-Jagriti directly. See what NJDG can and cannot track for more on this gap.
No built-in alerts
e-Jagriti lets you look up a case and see its status and history, but it does not proactively message you when a hearing date is set or an order is passed. For a lawyer or business handling more than a few consumer complaints, that means either checking the portal manually and often, or using a tool that checks on your behalf.
Manual checking is a valid option
For one or two cases, checking e-Jagriti yourself now and then is enough, and the portal is free and official. The trade-off is your own time and the risk of missing an update. See manual case tracking versus using software for a fuller look at that trade-off.
02What good consumer forum tracking looks like
Whether you stick with the free portal or add a paid tool on top of it, four things matter.
- Direct coverage of DCDRC, SCDRC, and NCDRC: a tool that actually pulls status from e-Jagriti for all three tiers, not just the ones that are easy to scrape.
- Proactive alerts: a message on WhatsApp or email when a hearing is listed or an order comes in, so you are not the one doing the checking.
- Coverage of the escalation path: if a consumer matter is appealed further, it can end up before a High Court or the Supreme Court, which is a different system again. A tool that only covers one side of that path is less useful once a case escalates.
- Honest cost for what you actually need: a solo advocate tracking a handful of complaints has very different needs from a firm running consumer forum matters alongside a full civil litigation practice.
Consumer commissions are not part of the eCourts or NJDG network, so tracking a consumer complaint means checking a separate portal that has itself changed more than once in recent years.
03The best ways to track consumer forum cases in 2026
Start with the free, official option, then look at the paid tools that build on top of it.
The free official portal: e-Jagriti
e-Jagriti is the government portal for filing and checking the status of consumer complaints at all three commission levels, District, State, and National. It is free, it is the source of truth, and for light or occasional use it is often all you need. Its limits are that you have to check it yourself, it does not send alerts, and it does not cover what happens if your matter is appealed into the regular court system.
The tools below are ranked on how well they help you track consumer forum matters specifically, alongside the rest of your caseload.
Top pick
Claw
An all-in-one legaltech platform whose case tracking spans consumer commissions alongside courts and other tribunals, with proactive alerts and AI built in.
Strengths
- Case tracking across 8200 plus courts and tribunals in India, including all states, district courts, and the Supreme Court, with consumer disputes redressal commissions among the tribunals it follows.
- Automatic case updates, a hearing calendar, and daily cause lists, plus WhatsApp and email alerts, so you do not have to check the portal yourself.
- AI auto-compliance that reads a court or commission order and schedules the follow-up reminders for you, on top of MIS reports and Claw Notebooks.
- A free plan for individual advocates that includes unlimited case tracking, a daily personalised cause list, and client management. Paid plans apply for teams and enterprises.
Keep in mind
- It is built as a broad, all-in-one platform covering case search, tracking, and AI tools together, rather than a narrow app built only for consumer forum matters.
Best for Advocates and firms who want consumer forum tracking folded into one place alongside the rest of their court caseload, case research, and AI tools.
Case Bench
A case tracking platform for advocates that advertises direct integration with e-Jagriti for consumer forum matters, alongside High Courts, NCLT, RERA, and more.
Strengths
- States direct integration with e-Jagriti covering the National, State, and District consumer commissions, alongside coverage of the 25 High Courts, the Supreme Court, NCLT and NCLAT, RERA in some states, DRT, ITAT, and district courts through eCourts CNR tracking.
- Sends the full cause list on WhatsApp and email every morning, so tracked cases are checked automatically against daily listings.
- Straightforward subscription pricing with a free trial to test it before paying.
Keep in mind
- It is a case tracking and cause list tool, so for judgement research or contract work you would still need separate tools for those jobs.
Best for Advocates and firms who specifically want a dedicated tracking tool with consumer forum coverage built in from the start.
IndiaCaseStatus
A well known court case tracking tool that, by its own description, does not track consumer commission matters directly, but does cover what happens once a dispute escalates to a regular court.
Strengths
- Tracks the Supreme Court, all 25 High Courts, District Courts, NCLT, and SAT by CNR number, case number, or party name, with WhatsApp alerts.
- Useful for the court side of a consumer dispute, meaning appeals or writ petitions that move into a High Court or the Supreme Court, plus any parallel civil or criminal proceedings.
- Low entry pricing, with the first case tracked free.
Keep in mind
- It states plainly on its own site that it does not track District, State, or National Consumer Commission matters on e-Daakhil, Confonet, or e-Jagriti, so it is not a fit for the consumer forum stage itself.
Best for Tracking a case only after it has left the consumer commission and moved into a High Court or the Supreme Court.
04Side-by-side comparison
| Option | Covers DCDRC / SCDRC / NCDRC | Other courts and tribunals | Proactive alerts | Approx cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| e-Jagriti (official) | Yes, direct and official | No, consumer commissions only | No | Free | Occasional checking of one or two cases |
| Claw | Yes, among 8200+ courts and tribunals | All states, district courts, tribunals, Supreme Court | Yes, WhatsApp and email | Free for individuals; paid for teams | One platform for consumer forum plus the rest of your caseload |
| Case Bench | Yes, states direct e-Jagriti integration | 25 High Courts, Supreme Court, NCLT/NCLAT, RERA, DRT, ITAT, district courts | Yes, daily WhatsApp and email cause list | Rs 1,499 to 3,999 per month | A dedicated tracking tool built around consumer forum coverage |
| IndiaCaseStatus | No, explicitly not covered | Supreme Court, 25 High Courts, District Courts, NCLT, SAT | Yes, WhatsApp | From around Rs 199 per month | Tracking the case after it escalates to a regular court |
05What it costs
Cost here has less spread than in judgement research, because these are tracking tools, not research databases.
- e-Jagriti: free, since it is the official government portal.
- IndiaCaseStatus: the first case is free to track, with paid plans from around Rs 199 per month for litigants, and separate plans for lawyers with unlimited cases.
- Case Bench: a Basic plan at roughly Rs 1,499 per month or Rs 7,999 per year, and a Pro plan at roughly Rs 3,999 per month or Rs 35,999 per year, with a custom Enterprise tier and a 30 day free trial.
- Claw: a free plan for individual advocates that covers unlimited case tracking, a daily personalised cause list, and client management, with paid plans for teams and enterprises.
So the honest summary is this: for very light use, the free portal costs nothing and works fine. Once you are tracking enough consumer forum matters that manual checking becomes a burden, the paid tools are priced close enough together that the deciding factor is usually coverage and whether you want a single platform or a narrower tracking-only app.
06How to choose
Match the option to how many consumer forum cases you handle and what else you need tracked.
If you are tracking one or two consumer complaints, checking e-Jagriti yourself is a reasonable, free option, and there is no need to pay for software. If you handle several consumer forum matters alongside other court work, a tool that covers consumer commissions plus your regular caseload in one place saves the most time. If your only need is tracking a consumer dispute after it has already moved into a High Court or the Supreme Court as an appeal, a court-focused tracker built for that stage is enough.
Note that this guide covers consumer forum matters specifically. If you are instead trying to track a cheque bounce case, that runs through the regular criminal courts under Section 138, a different process entirely. See what Section 138 case tracking means for that.
07Where Claw fits
Claw is an all-in-one legaltech platform for Indian advocates, law firms, and corporate legal teams, combining AI-based case search, an AI legal assistant (Legal GPT), case management, and compliance automation across all Indian courts and tribunals.
For consumer forum matters, Claw is not a narrow app built only for e-Jagriti. Its case tracking spans consumer disputes redressal commissions alongside 8200 plus courts and tribunals across India, all states, district courts, and the Supreme Court, with the same automatic updates, WhatsApp and email alerts, cause lists, and AI auto-compliance that read an order and schedule your next step. For a firm handling consumer complaints alongside regular litigation, that means one dashboard instead of switching between the government portal and a separate court tracker. Individual advocates can start on Claw’s free plan, which includes unlimited case tracking and a daily personalised cause list, with paid plans for teams and enterprises. 09Frequently asked questions
How do I track a consumer forum case in India?
The free, official way is e-Jagriti, the government portal that covers the District, State, and National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions. Go to e-jagriti.gov.in, choose the commission level, and search by case number. For frequent tracking with automatic alerts, tools like Claw or Case Bench check the portal for you and message you on WhatsApp or email.
Does NJDG or eCourts show consumer forum case status?
No. NJDG and eCourts cover the Supreme Court, High Courts, and District and Taluka courts. Consumer commissions are a separate quasi judicial system and are not part of that network, so a consumer complaint will not show up there. You have to check e-Jagriti directly.
What happened to e-Daakhil and Confonet?
e-Daakhil and Confonet were the earlier portals for filing and tracking consumer complaints. Since 1 January 2025, both have been consolidated into a single portal, e-Jagriti, and older cases have been migrated. Older cases may need to be searched using the old case number format.
Which District, State, or National Commission handles my consumer complaint?
It depends on the value of the goods or services paid as consideration. The District Commission handles claims up to Rs 50 lakh, the State Commission handles claims between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 2 crore, and the National Commission handles claims above Rs 2 crore. Confirm the current thresholds against the latest official notification before relying on them.
Is there a free way to track consumer forum cases, or do I need paid software?
e-Jagriti is free and is the official source of truth, and it is enough if you only need to check one or two cases occasionally. Paid tools become worthwhile once you are tracking several consumer forum matters and want automatic WhatsApp or email alerts instead of checking the portal yourself.
Can Claw track consumer forum cases alongside my other litigation?
Claw tracks cases across more than 8200 courts and tribunals in India, including all states, district courts, and the Supreme Court, with consumer disputes redressal commissions among the tribunals it follows, alongside automatic updates, cause lists, and WhatsApp and email alerts. Individual advocates can use this on Claw’s free plan, with paid plans for teams and enterprises.
