Andhra Pradesh High Court Case Status: How to Check Online by Case Number or Party Name (2026)
A step-by-step guide to checking Andhra Pradesh High Court case status online by case number, CNR or party name, plus what each status field means. Last verified October 2026.
How-To Guide · Andhra Pradesh High Court
You have a writ petition, a bail matter or a civil appeal before the Andhra Pradesh High Court, and you need to know today whether it is pending, listed or already disposed. To check Andhra Pradesh High Court case status online, open the official High Court website or the eCourts High Court Services portal, select the High Court, and search by case number, CNR number or party name. To follow many matters without repeating this, you can also track them in Claw by party name, with hearing and order alerts.
- Official routes: aphc.gov.in and the eCourts High Court Services portal.
- Seat: Amaravati, with jurisdiction over the state of Andhra Pradesh.
- Best search: CNR number, then case number, then party name.
- To track many matters: create a free Claw account for hearing and order alerts.
01The problem with checking status by hand
The Andhra Pradesh High Court hears matters from the whole state, from writ petitions against the government to criminal appeals, service cases and land disputes. A single advocate, in-house lawyer or loan officer may follow dozens of matters here. Each one needs its own search and its own look at the latest order.
Four things go wrong again and again.
- Old records mixed up. The court was set up in its present form after the state was split in 2014 and began functioning from Amaravati in January 2019. Older matters may carry the earlier Hyderabad registration, so a number you hold from an old paper may not match what the portal shows.
- Wrong case details. Case type, number and year must match exactly. One wrong digit gives an empty result.
- Spelling gaps in party names. Telugu names are often written in several English spellings. A search that uses one spelling can miss the case.
- Stale information. A status you checked last week may have changed after a hearing. Without a reminder, you find out late.
The rest of this guide shows how to avoid each of these. It covers only the Andhra Pradesh High Court. For lower courts in the state, see our guide to district court case tracking software.
02Andhra Pradesh High Court seat and jurisdiction
The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has its principal seat at Amaravati. Its territorial jurisdiction is the state of Andhra Pradesh. Unlike some large High Courts, it does not run separate permanent benches in other cities, so on the portals you normally select the High Court once and do not need to choose a bench.
| Item | Detail | What to remember |
|---|---|---|
| Principal seat | Amaravati | All main sittings and the registry are here. |
| Territorial jurisdiction | State of Andhra Pradesh | Appeals and writs from district courts, tribunals and authorities in the state. |
| Bench selection on portal | Usually one establishment | Pick the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. If a bench or establishment list appears, choose the principal seat. |
A case from a district such as Visakhapatnam, Guntur or Kurnool still comes up before this court if it is appealed or challenged by a writ. You search for it the same way. If you are not sure of the number, party name search is easier than guessing.
03How to check Andhra Pradesh High Court case status on the official portal
You have two official routes. The High Court’s own website and the eCourts High Court Services portal both give case status. The steps are similar.
Route 1: the High Court website
- Open the official website, aphc.gov.in.
- Find Case Status in the main menu or services section.
- Pick how you want to search (case number, party name, advocate, or other option shown).
- Enter the details, fill in the captcha, and submit.
- Open the matching case to see its status, next date and orders.
Route 2: eCourts High Court Services
- Open hcservices.ecourts.gov.in.
- Choose Case Status.
- Select High Court of Andhra Pradesh from the list of High Courts.
- Choose a search tab, such as case number, CNR number, party name, advocate name, FIR number or filing number.
- Enter the details and the captcha, then click Go.
- Click View against the case to see the full status.
Tip
Search by CNR number when you have it. A CNR is unique to one case, so it avoids wrong-number and old-registration problems.
04Ways to search for an Andhra Pradesh High Court case
Pick the method that matches what you have in hand.
| Method | What you enter | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| Case number | Case type, case number and year | You have the registered number from an order or notice, for example a writ petition number. |
| CNR number | The 16 character Case Number Record | You have the CNR. This is the most exact search. |
| Party name | Petitioner or respondent name, with year | You do not have the number. Spelling must be close to the record. |
| Advocate name | Name of the counsel on record | You want to see matters filed by one lawyer or firm. |
| FIR number | FIR number, year and police station | The matter comes from a criminal case, such as a bail or quashing petition. |
| Filing number | Filing number and year | The case is newly filed and has no registered number yet. |
Party name search is the one people use most, and the one that fails most. In Andhra Pradesh the record may show initials first or last, a village name in front, or a company name in full. If you get no result, try a shorter form of the name and a wider year range. Our note on name-tolerant party search explains why spelling differences cause so many missed matches.
05What the status fields mean
Once you open a case, you will see a few status terms. Here is what they mean in plain words.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | The case is still alive. It has not been finally decided. |
| Disposed | The court has finally decided the case. Check the final order for the result. |
| Listed | The case is placed on the cause list for a hearing on a given date. |
| For orders | The case is listed only for the court to pass an order, often after arguments or on an application. |
| Reserved | Arguments are finished and the court has kept its judgment for a later date. The judgment is not yet pronounced. |
Also look at the next hearing date, the court hall and judge, and the list of orders. The order text often tells you more than the one-line status. If you are new to the daily list, read how to read a cause list.
06Common problems and quick fixes
- No record found. Re-check the case type and the year. Then try the CNR or party name.
- Captcha errors. Refresh the captcha and type it exactly.
- Portal slow or down. Government portals can be slow at peak hours. Try again later or use the other official route.
- Status looks old. Updates depend on the registry entering orders. A very recent hearing may not show yet.
- Cannot find the cause list. The daily cause list is a separate section on the High Court website. Search it by date.
